Waterproofing

Waterproofing is an essential part of property maintenance. If there are any chinks in a building’s armour, water will eventually find its way in. Over time, these leaks can cause damage to the materials used in the construction of the building. They can also cause aesthetic issues like discolouration and staining.

Carrying out regular roof repairs and addressing waterproofing issues quickly and effectively will help clients to properly protect their properties. Spectrum has the skills, the expertise and the equipment to tackle all types of waterproofing jobs. From leak detection and repairs to flat roof waterproofing, our operatives can make any building watertight.

Why Waterproofing is Important

Glazing and roofing systems require regular maintenance to ensure they perform correctly. This often involves installing and repairing waterproofing systems. If water is not kept out of a building, it can quickly cause significant damage to the structure and aesthetics of the property. Persistent leaks can discolour render, damage décor and cause damp throughout a structure.

The larger a property is, the more complex the waterproofing project will be. Spectrum has the expertise and the experience to take on these jobs and install high quality waterproofing on properties of all shapes and sizes. Whether a project requires rope access, heavy machinery or specially designed and 3D printed tools, our team will be able to complete it to the highest possible standard.

Types of Waterproofing

Different buildings require different waterproofing solutions. Selecting the best method for each project ensures we are able to offer our clients a great service and excellent results.

The type of waterproofing used will depend on a number of factors. Our operatives will take into account the property’s size, the location of the roofline and the type and size of leak that needs to be fixed. They will then create a comprehensive plan that meets the needs of both the client and the property.

EPDM Waterproofing

EPDM is a weather-resistant and UV-resistant synthetic rubber. The rubber is extremely flexible and has elasticity of more than 500%. This makes it the most flexible single-ply membrane available for flat roof waterproofing and for waterproofing buildings and façades. EPDM is an effective, efficient and affordable solution to many waterproofing issues.

Glass Fibre Waterproofing

Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) waterproofing uses rigid polyester resin reinforced with glass fibre. This technique can be used for all types of roofing, but is particularly popular for flat roofs. This is often referred to as liquid waterproofing.

Rubber Membrane Waterproofing

In some cases, single-ply membranes are a good waterproofing option. This is one of the most traditional methods of waterproofing and has been in use in the UK for over four decades. The waterproof, single-ply membrane is attached to the roof in one of three ways: fastening, ballasting or adhesion. This creates an impermeable layer and helps to keep water out of the building.

Block Management

As a Block Manager I look for reliability, integrity and professionalism, Spectrum have not only gone above and beyond, they keep surprising us each time! Lucian is always willing to help, he has an incredible charisma and I can't thank him enough for the support he has provided us at HAUS! I look forward to continuing working with Spectrum, and wish them continuous success!

Alex

Facilities Manager

Spectrum used a ladder-less gutter cleaning system which was able to reach our gutters approximately 12m above the ground. The ladder-less gutter cleaning method meant we didn’t have to hire a cherry-picker or scaffolding, which would have been expensive and time-consuming to install and use. Spectrum staff were able to show us video recordings of the inside of the gutters during and after the clean, and also emailed the footage to us once the work was complete. Spectrum have been professional, polite and thorough in their work and I would highly recommend Spectrum for their gutter cleaning service.
